We are pleased to inform you that you have agreed to be a part of the IndigiData Indigenous data science workshop (http://indigidata.org/) to be held in-person in Scottsdale, AZ, on the lands of the Salt-River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community from June 3-7, 2023, with travel days to/from the workshop on June 2nd and June 8th.

We have created a form to help collect responses for planning and logistics purposes.

We are so excited to introduce you to other Indigenous researchers in the field of biological informatics and related disciplines on the theme Our Data Relations: Kinship, Stewardship, Sovereignty in Biodiversity and Biocollections.

Participants will fly into the Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX) and then use ground transportation (e.g. Uber/Lyft) to the Talking Stick Resort at 9800 Talking Stick Way, Scottsdale, AZ 85256. We also plan a group excursion that involves travel on a shuttle bus to 1) Sycamore Creek and the Heard Museum on Wednesday, June 5, and 2) the ASU Natural History Collections on Friday, June 7.

We will arrange for participants’ air travel and hotel costs ahead of time. Food will be catered or arranged during the week. Participant costs for ground transportation to/from airports and luggage (one checked item) will be reimbursed. We are unable to provide a stipend for the week, but we will aim to cover participant costs.

COVID Safety: Please also note that while all participants agree to adhere to COVID safety rules, we cannot predict the public health climate. We will provide hand sanitizers, disposable masks, and ask participants to be fully vaccinated or show proof of negative test results.

We are not able to extend an invitation to all applicants, so we thank you so much for carefully considering your decision to attend the workshop in-person well in advance of your arrival.
